Morchas pledge against 3 Lals REWARI, Jan 6 The Haryana Sarvajatiya Morcha (HSM), headed by industrialist-turned-politician, Mr Om Prakash Jindal, today pledged to give momentum to its campaign to 'free' Haryana politics from the three Lals Mr Bansi Lal, Mr Bhajan Lal and Mr Devi Lal. The HSM took the pledge at its workers' meeting, which also gave the morcha an opportunity to mobilise support for its rally here on January 14. Later, addressing newsmen, Mr Jindal and the Patron and Editor-Publisher of Punjab Kesri, Mr Ashwani Chopra, claimed that the Bansi Lal government was on its last leg. Mr Jindal said the move to topple the government a few days ago would have succeeded had the Governor of Haryana stayed in Chandigarh. The absence of the Governor proved to be the major bottleneck, he claimed. He said a no-confidence motion was likely to be moved against the government in the next assembly session. Mr Chopra claimed that since the constitution of the HSM, the government had become shaky. Earlier, Mr Jindal assured the people of south Haryana that HSM leaders would ensure development of their areas when they come to power. He also promised to set up a medical college and hospital at Rewari if the HSM came to power. Reacting to the alleged statement of Mr Bansi Lal which described him as a 'novice' in politics and thus not being a threat to the Haryana Vikas Party (HVP), Mr Jindal quipped: 'Yes, I was novice to have supported Mr Bansi Lal during his days of struggle.' He urged the people to make the January 14 rally in Rewari a success. The General Secretary of the HSM and a national leader of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Mr Raghu Yadav, accused all Chief Ministers of ignoring the interests of south Haryana. While criticising all state Chief Ministers, Mr Chopra particularly singled out Mr Bhajan Lal for "exploiting the sentiments of the non-Jat community." Earlier, speaking at a function organised by the Punjabi Manch headed by Mr Ramesh Arora, Mr Chopra urged the Punjabi community to unite and launch an agitation to press its demands. Mr Chopra was felicitated by a number of organisations, including the Punjabi Sabha, Kosli, and the Pataudi Punjabi Biradari. Mr Nand Lal Taneja of the Rewari Municipal Council, Mrs Suchitra Chanda and other councillors attended the function. |
Septicaemia kills 30 head of cattle SIRSA, Jan 6 At least 30 head of cattle have died in Shaheedanwali and Gudia Khera village during the past few weeks due to septicaemia. Panic-stricken villagers have brought the matter to the notice of the administration, but they allege there has been no response from the government. After repeated representations to the district administration experts from the Veterinary Postgraduate College and Hospital, Hisar, visited the affected villages but no remedial measures have been initiated so far, they say. According to information available, septicaemia is a deadly epidemic disease caused by a virus. The disease leads to swelling in the throat. The animal cannot swallow anything, not even water. The animal dies within hours of the infection. Mr Kishen Kumar, a resident of Shaheedanwali, has lost 10 head of cattle during the past few weeks. He alleges despite timely information local veterinary officials did not take any action. He says blood samples of various animals were collected by the officials, but the reports are awaited. According to veterinary officials, once an animal is infected with this disease, the chances of recovery are low. Instead of remedial measures, the cattleowners have advised preventive measures, like vaccination which helps in immunisation from the disease. The vaccine is distributed free of cost. The disease is usually reported during the rainy season. An officer told TNS that the farmers do not approach veterinary doctors but use the services of quacks. In some cases, the cattle is taken to temples to ward off evil spirits. He denies any delay on the part of the administration in tackling the problem. |

Hooda: 15 villages denied power ROHTAK, Jan 6 A former Minister, Mr Krishan Murti Hooda, has claimed that shortage of power supply has disrupted normal life in rural areas. In a statement issued here today, he alleged at least 15 villages in the Kiloi assembly segment had been denied electricity supply whereas the remaining villages were getting only limited power. Non-supply of power to Chiri, Sanghi, Khirwali, Titoli, Makroli, Chamarian, Brahamanwas, Dhamar, Kiloi, Bohar, Bhaloth, Kansala. Humayunpur, Aasan and Roorki villages had even created drinking water scarcity. The villages were supplied power for at least eight hours a day. The supply was switched off during peak-load restrictions only, he added. Mr Hooda further alleged

Bajrang Dal to observe religion ROHTAK, Jan 6 The Bajrang Dal has announced to observe January 22, the martyrdom day of Vir Haqikat Rai as religion preservation day throughout the country. The national convener of Bajrang Dal, Dr Sunder Kumar Jain, in a statement here today said demonstrations would be held on that day at district headquarters to expose the reality of Christian missionaries. Memorandums, would be submitted to the President through District Magistrates to seek an inquiry into the activities of the missionaries and their connections with "anti-social" elements. Reacting to the offer made by Christian organisations to enter into a dialogue with the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the BJP on the issue of forced conversions, Mr Jain said Christian organisations were serious about the offer, they should not have criticised. Following their 'exposure' the RSS in their statement after the Jhabua and Jhajjar incidents, the missionaries were telling lies so as to cover-up their agenda of religion conversion and "anti-national" activities, he charged. The Bajrang Dal leader said the Pope had on many occasions said that the main activities of Christian missionaries in India were conversion of religion. Mr Jain said the Bajrang Dal would thwart the dreams of the missionaries of converting India into a "Christian land". Their conspiracy of alienating the North East India from the rest of the country has been exposed, he alleged and said that India do not need their services. |
