Ex-MLA accuses cops of shielding guilty

LUDHIANA, Aug 5 There can be hundreds of examples of how the Punjab Police acts to repress the poor and the helpless in order to shield the guilty and the influential. But perhaps three cases are enough to drive home the point.

Protests against killings continue
LUDHIANA, Aug 5 The youth Congress workers, led by Mr Amarjit Tikka, senior vice-president of the Punjab Youth Congress, held an angry demonstration at Gian Singh Rarewala Market, near General Bus Stand here, to protest against the massacre of pilgrims and other innocent people in Jammu and Kashmir by militants.
