Ghosh in search of Punjabi beauty
From Shivani Bhakoo

LUDHIANA, Sept 9 — Kaushik Ghosh, a top fashion model and choreographer of India, was here today in search of young, beautiful and intelligent models.

Ghosh has choreographed more than 300 prestigious fashion shows in India and abroad. He has groomed a number of supermodels, including India’s first Miss Universe, Sushmita Sen.

About his visit to the city, Kaushik said, “This is my second visit to the city. I had organised a workshop here in 1995. This year, it will be an international modeling workshop in collaboration with the National Institute of Art and Fashion. After the workshop, youngsters will be able to join this profession. The 15-day workshop will begin from September 27.”

Ghosh has trained Sushmita Sen, Manpreet Brar, Diana Hayden, Madhu Sapre, Preity Zinta, Namrita Shirodkar, Pooja Batra and others. The list is virtually endless. He said, “A unique feature of this workshop will be the participation of kids.”

Ghosh is India’s first fashion choreographer to perform in North America, Canada, Singapore, Europe and Maldives. He had also received the prestigious Trend Setter International Fashion Award in Canada. His school, The Roots, has branches in 25 Indian cities, besides North America.

He has great expectations from Ludhiana. He said, “Punjabis are among the most beautiful people in the world. They only need grooming. I look at each aspect of their personality. For a supermodel, height, looks, figure and intelligence are necessary. Ludhiana has produced models like Bunty Grewal, who is in great demand in Bollywood.”

Kaushik Ghosh is also a member of the advisory board of the International School of Design and holds positions in various other national and international fashion bodies.
