PNB staff observe
anti-scam day
Ludhiana, August 21
Members of the Punjab Bank Employees Federation observed anti-scam day here yesterday. Mr Naresh Gaur and Mr Ashok Awasthy, secretary and president of the federation, respectively, said that no effective remedial measures had been taken by the authorities in the light of the 1991-92 scam that had rocked the financial sector.
A massive PR exercise was started by the local police after the new SSP took charge. The first thing that the new police chief did was to instruct all cops to address complainants as Shriman ji. Media reports suggested a big overhaul of the police force in the days to come. Then came reports that cops had been told to furnish details of their property assets to ensure that they do not amass wealth beyond their known sources of income.
