Congress workers feel let down

Most of the Congress workers here seem to be feeling let down over the attitude of the local administration, particularly the Deputy Commissioner, Mr Anurag Aggarwal, who kept them waiting for hours and made a quiet exit from the backdoor without meeting them.

Contract system opposed

The Safai Karamchari Union in the Municipal Corporation here has demanded the scrapping of the ban on new recruitment of safai workers. The ban is in force since 1986. The union has also demanded fresh recruitment of at least 5,000 safai workers, 2,000 sewer men and 1,000 beldars from the approved list to cope with the sanitation needs of the city.

canteen for defence personnel

A self-service CSD canteen of 152 (TA) Sikh Battalion was inaugurated here today by Col T.P.S. Gill, Commanding Officer.
With the opening of the canteen near Jagraon Bridge, the dream of the retired Armed personnel of Ludhiana has come true.
Two-day media meet from March 30
