DIES IN MISHAP: Mr Devinder Goyal, alias Ishwar (37), a resident of Jaito in the district and a grandson of the late Bhagwan Dass, a former Food and Supply Minister, Punjab, died in a road accident near Mastuana village in Sangrur district on Tuesday. Two others in the car who were seriously injured in the accident were taken to Ludhiana and admitted to DMC Hospital. FATEHGARH SAHIB
MEETING: A state-level meeting of the Brahmin Sabha will be held at Shri Naina Devi Temple Sirhind City on February 8, in which delegates from all districts of the State would participate. This was stated by Mr R.N.Sharma and Mr Varinder Rattan, president and secretary of the district Brahmin Sabha in a press note issued here on Wednesday. They said after the general body meeting a special meeting of the executive committee would also be held, which would be presided over by Mr C.D.

Accounting practices: The Commerce Department of Ramgarhia Girls College, Millerganj, organised an extension lecture on ''accounting literature in logical perspective'' here on Wednesday. Dr Sukhdev Singh, Coordinator, Postgraduate Department of Commerce at the GGN Khalsa College for Boys, was the resource person. The lecture was a part of a series initiated by the college for the benefit of the students and for the expansion of their vistas of knowledge. Dr Singh said that in the days to come, the world of business was going to be dominated by multinational corporations which would expect accountants of international calibre. He stressed that the students must acquire the knowledge which was relevant to the real world as compared to the theoretical knowledge imparted in the

fee: The Solvent Extractors Association of Punjab has welcomed the decision of the Punjab Government to abolish the market fee on mustard. The decision would improve realisation to the mustard seed growers in the state by at least Rs 30 per quintal. Mr A.R. Sharma, president of the association, said in a press release here on Wednesday that the Union Government had also raised the minimum support price of mustard seed to Rs 1,600 per quintal from Rs 1,330 last season. The relief provided by both the state and central governments would go a long way to encourage the much-needed diversification from foodgrains to oilseeds.
