Urban renewal mission for city planned

The Chandigarh Municipal Corporation has submitted a project to the UT Administration under the Government of India’s coherent urbanisation policy for improvement of infrastructure for urban population in the form of a mission known as the ‘National Urban Renewal Mission’.
Neighbour’s dog ‘prompts’ woman to fire in air

Fight with neighbours over disturbance being caused by their dog led to the firing of a shot into the air late last night. A Sector 44-based woman fired a shot into air and allegedly threatened to kill herself, if her neighbours did not stop their dog from disturbing her.
Possession of weapons by residents worries cops

Gunshots, shattering the city’s peace and tranquility, are giving the Chandigarh Police sleepless nights.
Though senior police officers refuse to comment on the issue, sources in the police headquarters say that two cases of firing in less than a fortnight are giving the cops the creeps.

Rs 2.8 cr to be spent on road

Keeping in view the inconvenience being faced by commuters due to the dilapidated condition of V3 road between Sectors 31 and 32, Chandigarh Administration today decided to convert it into a cement concrete road.
Less than a month after a road dividing Sectors 16 and 10 was recarpeted, cracks have started appearing on it; and (right) concrete tiles dumped on the Sector 18-19 dividing road, putting residents to a lot of inconvenience.
