HC wants probe against MC officials completed by June

In a significant development, the Punjab & Haryana High Court has asked the state local bodies department to conduct inquiries that are pending against about two dozen municipal corporation officials who were issued charge sheets within three months. The court has ordered that till the time the inquiries are not decided, the officials concerned would not be allowed to function in their present postings.

LIT sets aside Rs 4,300 lakh for development, infrastructure

Untreated glaucoma can cause blindness

Glaucoma is a group of eye diseases that cause progressive damage of the optic nerve at the point where it leaves the eye to carry visual information to the brain. If left untreated, most types of glaucoma progress (without warming or obvious symptoms to the patient) towards gradual visual damage and may lead to blindness. Once incurred, visual damage is mostly irreversible, and this has led to glaucoma being described as the “salient blinding disease” or the “sneak thief of sight.”
