Parkash Parv
:Multifaceted activities will be taken up by the Tonk Kshtriya Sabha to celebrate the Parkash Parv of Guru Nanak Dev and Bhagat Namdev from November 19 to 21 at Namdev Bhawan in old Suraj Nagari here, secretary SS Chahal informed. 

Livestock event concludes: The two-day district livestock and milking competition organised by the Department of Animal Husbandry concluded here on Monday. CPS (Revenue) Sukhpal Singh Nannu gave away prizes and certificates to the winners.



Rajeev is ABVP president:The Akhil Bhartiya Vidhyarthi Parishad (ABVP) announced its Chandigarh unit at a press conference held at the student centre today. Dr Rajeev K Sharma, a lecturer in GGDSD College, Sector 32, has been elected the president, the post of vice-president is being shared by Ruchi Sharma, Uttam Chand, JP Singh, Tenzin Topen and Abhishek Mishra. The announcement was made by Chandigarh organising secretary Dinesh Chauhan amidst volunteers of the ABVP. 

Four held for gambling
:The district police nabbed four persons on the charges of gambling and recovered over Rs 18,000 from their possession in Kalka late last night.The police said that after getting a tip off they raided the site in Kalka and arrested the four accused who have been identified as Sunil Sharma, Parmod, Baljeet Singh and Dev Kumar. A sum of Rs 18,775 was also recovered from the accused on the spot from the gambling pool, the police added.



Educationists visit Gurukul school
:A team of educationists from European countries visited Gurukul Senior Secondary School, Kurukshetra, here recently. Dr Dev Vrat Acharya, principal of the school, showed various departments of the school to the team members. He said the panoramic view of the institute, science lab, cowshed, horses and naturopathy centre drew admiration from the educationists, adding that the high-yielding varieties of cows were described as awesome and amazing by them.

Cashier held
: The police has arrested Davender Sharma, cashier of Recent Insurance Company here, who had allegedly misappropriated Rs 1,96,000 of the company on November 4. He was on Monday produced in a local court, which remanded him in judicial custody. The police has recovered the amount.
