Office-bearers elected: At a meeting of Guru Nanak Labour Welfare Committee following have been elected as the office-bearers: chairman- Kuldeep Sharma; president Onkar Thakur; vice-president Dharshan Malik; general secretary Sardar Gurpal Singh; organising secretary Vasan Singh; cashier Sandeep Joshi; advisers Jaswinder Singh, Dharshan and Sukhwinder Singh.

Residentsí body poll: CL Bhardwaj is elected president of the Residentsí Welfare Association (MIG-1), Sector 40-C. According to returning officer NK Singh, he secured 98 votes while his rival Dilbagh Singh polled 72 votes. 

Woollens given:A social welfare organisation, Universal United Organisation, distributed woollens to needy workers, including sweepers and security guards of DAV College, Sector 10, here on Sunday.

Award for SJVN
:Shimla, Sutlej Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN) Limited has been conferred with the Scope Gold Medal Award in the medium public sector enterprise category at a function held in Delhi recently.Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh presented the award to chairman and managing director of the SJVN Hemant Kumar Sharma. 

Three houses gutted:Three houses were destroyed in a major fire at Rohtan village in the Jubbal area last night. There was no loss of life, but six families were rendered homeless.Horticulture Minister Narinder Bragta visited the spot. He directed the administration to provide relief and arrange shelter for the affected families, which were given Rs 15,000 each as immediate relief and ration for one month.
