SAD ex-servicemen wing to launch stir
: The ex-servicemen wing of the Shiromani Akali Dal will launch an agitation against the UPA government to get “one rank, one pension” implemented in letter and spirit. State president of the wing Gurjinder Singh Sidhu said the ex-servicemen felt cheated as they had not been granted the pension under the policy, as the UPA government had only implemented other recommendations of the 6th Pay Commission. 

Book on prostratediseases released
: Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal released a book, “Prostate problems - Know before it is too late”, authored by Dr Baldev Singh Aulakh, Professor of Urology and Transplant Surgery, Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana, and president, Urological Society of India (NZ), on Sunday. 

Power engineers to revive agitation
: The Council of Junior Engineers of the PSEB has decided to resurrect its state-wide agitation in support of their demands by holding circle-level rallies on October 10 and a one-day strike on October 18. “We have been left with no alternative but to revive our agitation as the power management has been indifferent towards the demands of junior engineers,” said Davinder Singh, general secretary. 


Police Lines complex
: Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda inaugurated the newly constructed police lines complex here on Sunday. A sum of Rs 11.05 crore has been spent on construction of this project which is spread over 40 acres on the Kaithal-Ambala stretch of NH-65.

Case of fraud
: On the complaint of the managing director of the Sonepat Cooperative Sugar Mills, Virender Lather, a case of fraud has been registered in the local city police station against Tejpal, chief engineer of the mill for submitting fake documents while applying for the post of chief engineer. He got the appointment in July, 2008.
