Tribune News Service & PTI

New Delhi, February 12
Parliament attack convict Afzal Guruís family members will be allowed to visit his grave for prayer inside the Tihar Jail complex in Delhi, the Centre said today. Afzalís family, however, pressed for the return of his body.

ďWe have no problem if the immediate family of Afzal Guru wants to come and offer prayers at his grave in Tihar Jail,Ē Union Home Secretary RK Singh said. Jail authorities will soon take a formal decision on the possible date for the family visit, sources said. ďAfzalís belongings will be returned to the family,Ē said the Home Secretary.

Afzalís family said their only demand was that the Centre return his body to enable them to give him a proper burial at their village in Sopore in Kashmir. ďThe only thing we want is that Afzalís body be returned to us,Ē Mohammad Yasin, a cousin of Afzal, said.

He said the family has written Tihar jail authorities and the Baramulla Deputy Commissioner asking that Afzalís body be given to them.
