PM expresses condolences over former Chief Justice Verma's demise
New Delhi, April 23 (ANI): Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, on Tuesday expressed shock and grief at the passing away of former Supreme Court Chief Justice Justice J. S. Verma. Justice Verma expired at the Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon on Monday at the age of 80 due to multiple organ failure.

Mamata to bring ordinance for taking action in chit fund scam
Siliguri/Kolkata/New Delhi, April 23 (ANI): Amid massive protests in West Bengal, chief minister Mamata Banerjee is likely to bring an ordinance to form a ‘stronger law’ to deal with the recent chit fund scam in the region. Irate protesters staged a demonstration and demanded prompt action against a non-banking financial company, under the banner of Saradha Group, for defaulting on repayment of depositors' dues in Kolkata.

25 Maoists surrender in Visakhapatnam
Vishakhapatnam, April 23 (ANI): Under police rehabilitation programme, 25 Maoists and their sympathizers surrendered in Vishakapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh. Police claimed that these sympathisers were involved in several illegal activities and assisted Maoists in their operations. Referring to the mass surrender as an outcome of a police rehabilitation programme, director general of police, Swati Lakada, said that 25 Maoists surrendered before Vishakhapatnam police.

Coal scam report: Opp demands PM's resignation; govt dismisses demand
New Delhi, April 23 (ANI): As anticipated, both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha witnessed pandemonium as the opposition took on the government over the coal scam and 2G-scam demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. The BJP also demanded sacking of law minister Ashwini Kumar.
