New Delhi, July 23
The Indian Air Force (IAF) on Tuesday took the delivery of the second Boeing C-17 Globemaster III. This is a month after the first C-17 arrived at the Hindon air base and was immediately pressed into operations

The aircraft can operate in extreme weather conditions, transport large payloads across vast distances and land on short, austere runways. India will receive 10 such aircraft by 2014. IAF chief NAK Browne, who was present at the Boeing facility at California at the time of handing over, said: "Our first C-17 Globemaster III not only signifies a tremendous boost in our strategic airlift capability, but also is poised to form a major component in the IAF's modernisation drive.
