UT's share in Budget slashed

Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram has reduced the share of the UT under the Plan head by 7.21 per cent. A hike of 4.38 per cent has been given under the non-Plan head in the Budget for the next financial year (2014-15).

Challenging appointment of PU VCís wife costs advocate dear

Repeated attempts by an advocate to challenge the appointment of the Panjab University Vice-Chancellorís wife have cost him dear. The Punjab and Haryana High Court has not only dismissed the petition filed by advocate Jagmohan Singh Bhatti with Rs 10,000 costs, it has also referred the matter to the Bar Council.

A local court today sentenced a 45-year-old man to 10-year rigorous imprisonment in a case of a minorís rape. The court convicted Rohtash, a resident of Bapu Dham Colony, in a case of rape under Section 376 of the IPC.
