It is a local problem: Aziz
ISLAMABAD, June 1 (PTI) Pakistan Foreign Minister
Sartaj Aziz today termed as a "localised
problem" the current tension with India along the
Line of Control (LoC) and called for restraint to prevent
it from turning into a "big problem". In an
interview to the BBC, Mr Aziz, who is expected to visit
Delhi shortly in a bid to de-escalate the situation,
however, maintained that Kashmir was the "unfinished
agenda" of the Partition of the subcontinent.
Expressing hope that India and Pakistan would be able to
find an "appropriate solution" to the Kashmir
issue, he said both Indian and Pakistani prime ministers
had pledged to resolve this problem. He reiterated that
Pakistan was supporting the "freedom fighters"
morally and diplomatically and added "we are doing
that because we consider the freedom struggle
as just". Incidentally, Pakistan Prime Minister
Nawaz Sharif has also described the militants fighting
against the Indian Army as "freedom fighters"
while rejecting Indian accusations that Pakistan is
sending trained infiltrators into Kashmir to fight
against India.Ban
