BATHINDA
Tyres stolen:
About four dozen tyres of trucks, cars and other vehicles, were stolen from a shop located on the Bibiwala road on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday. The police has registered a case.

MANSA
Computer centre:
Mr Sanjay Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, inaugurated on Monday a computer centre at the Bal Bhavan here. Speaking on the occasion, he said candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste would get scholarship and books free of cost for one-year course in hardware and software while students belonging to the general category would have to pay Rs 400 per month for this course.

NANGAL
Cassettes seized:
The police has seized around 1415 duplicate audio cassettes from two wholesale dealers, Yashpal Kumar and Balraj Sahni here. The raids were conducted at the behest of T-Series officials who had complained against the sale of duplicate cassettes by the accused. A case under Section 420 of the IPC and Sections 51,52,63 and 64 of the Copyright Act, 1957, has been registered.

NAWANSHAHR
Blood donation camp:
The local Blood Donors' Council organised a state-level blood donation camp here at Kamal Palace in collaboration with the Punjab unit of Red Cross to mark the 'World Red Cross Day' on Saturday. The camp was inaugurated by the Punjab Governor, Lieut-Gen BKN Chhibber.

Elected: The following have been elected office-bearers of the Lions Club: President - Mr Vijay Rajpal; Secretary - Mr Bharat Bhushan; and Treasurer - Mr Raj Pal Chawla.top

Meeting: The general body meeting of the Pensioners Association was held here on Saturday at Lajpat Rai Bhavan, Sector 15. The following were elected the office-bearers: President — Mr S.S. Bhalla; Vice-Presidents — Mr Chaman Lal Sharma and Mr Prem Singh; General Secretary; Mr Pyara Singh; Secretary — Mr N.S. Sahny; Organising Secretary — Mr Gurdev Singh; and Honorary Treasurer — Mr Parkash Ram Kailay.

Adopted: Twenty children, belonging to poor families, of Government High School, Sector 24, were adopted by the State Bank of India Ladies Club, here on Tuesday. Speaking at the function, Mrs Rani Raj Aggarwal, stated that these students were intelligent but could not pursue their studies due to financial problems. The club also donated set of books, shoes and uniforms to the students and would pay their monthly fee for the academic session.

FARIDABAD
Prostitution charge:
The police arrested five persons, including three women, on Sunday on a charge of prostitution. They have been identified as Geeta Arora, Reeta, Sonu, Vijay Kumar and Jagdish.

GURGAON
Chairman:
Mr Ishwar Dass Jhamb, a former chairman of the Improvement Trust Gurgaon, has been elected chairman of the local Sahkari Dehati Panchayat. Mr Jhamb said it was a social organisation which worked for the upliftment of people.

PANIPAT
Sentence:
The Additional Sessions Judge, Mr B.K Aggarwal, has sentenced Trilok Chand, a resident of Panipat, to life imprisonment and fined him Rs 1000 for murdering his wife.

SIRSA
Body found:
The body of a sadhu was found in a shack at the local industrial area on Monday. The deceased had been living in the shack for the past two years.

Arrested: Sukhvinder Singh, a truck driver and a proclaimed offender in a criminal case registered against him about 10 years ago, was arrested by the crime investigation agency of the local police on Monday. The truck driver was booked by the police for rash and negligent driving on May 10, 1990, when his truck had collided with a bus near Pappiwal Mota village on Dabwali road. The accused had been absconding after his release on bail.

Held: Bhola Singh alias, Jaddu of Alikan village was arrested by the police on Monday in a criminal case registered against him under Section 354 of the IPC on a complaint of Kuldeep Kaur. The complainant had alleged that she was molested by him on Saturday.

Nominated: Sahib Ram Godara, president of the Haryana Vikas Party, Ellenabad, has been nominated chairman of the Market Committee, Ellenabad.top
