Four policemen die in blast
HYDERABAD, Sept 20 (UNI) — Four policemen, including a Sub-Inspector, were killed in a landmine blast triggered by Naxalites of the banned people’s War Group (PWG) near Kataram village in Karimnagar district of Andhra Pradesh this afternoon. A police party, which was on a routine search for landmines, came near a culvert when the militants set off the mine.

IAF plane crashes
LUCKNOW, Sept 20 (ANI) — An Indian Air Force plane crashed into the Boulia Railway Colony in Gorakhpur district early this morning during a regular sortie. The pilot, however, bailed himself out and escaped unhurt. The plane caught fire and was gutted. On receiving information, senior Air Force officials were rushed to the site to conduct an investigation into the mishap.

Athavale warning
MUMBAI, Sept 20 (PTI) — Republican Party of India (RPI-Athavale) President Ramdas Athavale today said he would seek President K.R. Narayanan's intervention regarding the Supreme Court judgement on reservation for Backward Classes in promotions. "I will lead a party delegation to meet the President in the next three-four days", he said here today. The party would also launch an agitation on the issue.

Hizbul threat
BANGALORE, Sept 20 (UNI) — The police provided security cover to the office of English daily "The Asian Age" in the city today, following a threat call for publishing excerpts of a novel by Khushwant Singh in the magazine section of the newspaper yesterday. Official sources said a staff member had received the call last night from a person claiming to be a Hizbul Mujahideen representative from Srinagar. He said the outfit would take action against the paper if it did not tender an apology within a week.

Four soldiers feared killed
NEW DELHI, Sept 20 (PTI) — Four Indian soldiers, part of the six-member Army patrol which strayed into Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in Turtuk sector, are feared to have been killed, Army sources said here. The four were part of the patrol which included Lance Naik Ram Singh and Sepoy Bajinder Singh, who were repatriated to India after 17 days of captivity in Pakistan.
