CHANDIGARH, Sept 20 — The police arrested five persons from the Panjab University campus today for an alleged threat to the peace.

Victim’s father seeks probe
KHARAR, Sept 20 — Mr Gurmukh Singh, father of Devinder Singh of nearby Basampur village, who was allegedly tortured to death in the custody of the CIA staff at Ropar yesterday, has demanded that a high-level inquiry should be conducted into the whole affairs and the police officers responsible for the alleged murder of his son should be arrested immediately.

Survey to decide Sukhna wet dredging
CHANDIGARH, Sept 20 — Provision of funds during the last and current financial year notwithstanding, wet dredging of Sukhna Lake may not begin until next year. The work could not be awarded after objections were raised by the Ministry of Forests, Wildlife and Environment despite the Dredging Corporation of India bidding to undertake this task.
