6,000 small units face closure

LIT gets nod to auction complex

A 2.22 acre ultra modern commercial complex of the Ludhiana Improvement Trust (LIT) on Maharanai Jhansi road here has received the assent of the state government to be auctioned at a reserve price of Rs 197 crore.

City Concerns
Though Ludhiana claims to be one of the top industrial towns in the country, its roads present a picture of neglect and apathy on part of the government. While the state highways are being fast upgraded, the local authorities seem to have turned a blind eye to the harrowing time that thousands of commuters face due to potholes.


Bomb scare at railway station

A hoax call created panic among passengers at railway station barely hours before the arrival of Youth Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to the city late last night. The hoax call was made at the PCO situated at platform No. 2 at around 2.30 am. According to the PCO owner, it was the voice of a male.

Official facing fraud charges reinstated

The Northern Railway authorities have revoked the suspension orders of Iqbal Singh, assistant station master of Dhandari railway station, and he has been posted at Jassian railway station till the completion of inquiry against him. He has been indicted and a vigilance probe will be conducted to bring out the facts on the receipt of his reply.
