Kalia demands Rs 400 crore for completion of projects in city
Deepkamal Kaur Tribune News Service
Jalandhar, June 26 He also raised an issue of making budgetary provisions for the Rs 30-crore flyover at Kapurthala Chowk in Jalandhar to ease out traffic congestion in the area. Claiming that the Chief Minister had already granted a sanction, he demanded immediate release of the same. Kalia claimed that he had said that HUDCO had sanctioned Rs 130 crore loan for the setting up of a sports hub at the Burlton Park, while the total cost of project is Rs 230 crore. He said the remaining Rs 100 crore be arranged in the state Budget. He said as per the detailed project report (DPR) of the 100 per cent sewerage system project, the total cost was expected to be Rs 235.86 crore. He said the Central Government had given approval of the project and was supposed to contribute Rs 127.71 crore, whereas the Punjab Government had to contribute Rs 69.8 crore and the Municipal Corporation had to submit Rs 39 crore. He said a mere Rs 50 crore have been earmarked for water and sewerage in whole of Punjab, which was meagre. Kalia perhaps is more concerned owing to the fact that during his stint as the Local Bodies Minister in the last government, all these projects were initiated by him and are on the verge of maturing. Kalia also reminded that since the SAD-BJP government has carved out two districts Pathankot and Fazilka, the provision for the administrative complex at both places should also be included in the Budget. |
