Death anniversary of Sukha, Jinda observed:
The death anniversary of General AS Vaidya's assassins - Sukhdev Singh Sukha and Harjinder Singh Jinda - was observed at the Golden Temple Complex on Thursday. Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh felicitated the brother of Jinda on the occasion. General AS Vaidya played a key role in carrying out Operation Bluestar at the Golden Temple in 1984.

Pak customs delegation: A Pakistani customs delegation arrived here to participate in the 17th Customs Liaison Border Committee meeting with Indian custom authorities. The delegation was headed by Collector of Customs, Model Customs Collectorate (Preventive), Lahore. The Indian delegation was headed by Sunil Kumar Sawhney, Commissioner Customs (Preventive) Commissionerate. The meeting was held to review steps taken for the promotion of cross-border trade. The Pakistani delegation sought restoration of earlier timings for trade.


Lecturer dies in car mishap: Dr Rakesh Kumar, lecturer at Agriculture University, Palampur, was killed when his Indica car rolled down a hill into a gorge near Chabutra village, 15 km from here, on Wednesday. He was travelling in his car (HP-37-8506) with his wife from Hamirpur to Palampur when the mishap took place. His wife Usha Singh was seriously injured.

1 die, MLA hurt in mishap: A person, Bhavdev, was killed and four others, including Dharampur BJP MLA Mohinder Singh Thakur, were injured in a road mishap near Khiod in Gohar subdivision here on Tuesday evening. The police said a Maruti WagonR (HP-32A-2412) coming from the Gohar side collided with the Bolero (HP-51-T-6293) in which the MLA and his wife Promila Devi were travelling. The MLA and his wife sustained minor injuries. The police have registered a case.

Security guard hit by car, dies: A security guard, working at the Nestle unit in the industrial area, was killed after being hit by an unidentified car at Tahliwal here on Tuesday.The deceased, identified as Rajinder Kumar of Bainspur near Nangal, was going to the unit when the motorcycle he was riding was hit by a car coming from the opposite direction. A case has been registered against the driver of the unidentified vehicle.


Two gamblers arrested
: The police have arrested two gamblers and recovered Rs 40,000 from the gambling site in Ahmad Nagar locality. The arrested gamblers have been identified as Tufail Manzoor Chotta of Lal Bazaar and Mohammad Yosuf of Tiploo Mohalla of the Anchar Soura locality.

Fire damages 3 houses: Three houses have been damaged in a fire incident at Shamaswari area of the Fateh Kadal locality here, the police said on Thursday.
