Chief Election Commissioner T.S. Krishna Murthy accompanied by two Commissioners B.B. Tandon and N Gopalswami today met President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam in the wake of allegations made by senior IAS officer L.V. Saptarishi in countermanding Chhapra Lok Sabha polls.

Rocca meets MEA officials

United States’ Assistant
Secretary of State Christina Rocca made a brief stop-over here this
morning en route to Kathmandu, primarily to adopt a coordinated approach
between Washington and New Delhi on Nepal.
BJP underplays comments

underplay its high profile general secretary Pramod Mahajan’s

SC calls for notification on forests
around Chandigarh
New Delhi, May 9
The Supreme Court today called for a notification of the Punjab Government declaring certain areas in the periphery of Chandigarh, including that adjacent to the Sukhna lake as reserved forest in view of the allegations in a petition that the protected forests around the city were being brought under urbanisation plan by Haryana, Punjab and Union Territory Administration.
