Preliminary Enquiry to ascertain the authenticity of a TV news channel's
report about a purported conversation between Union Minister Manikrao
Gavit and a gangster in Uttar Pradesh.

Marriage
registration to be compulsory
in Punjab
Chandigarh, August 20
In an attempt to save young men and
women of Punjab from being fooled into marriage by already-married NRIs
and also to prevent child marriages, the Punjab Government is all set to
make the registration of marriages compulsory in the state.

Drug
racket busted, 4 held
New Delhi, August 20
In a major breakthrough, the Delhi
police today claimed to have smashed an international drug racket with
the arrest of four persons and seized 100 kg of ephedrine and 3 kg of
hasish worth nearly $5million from their possession.

govt withdraws fuel price hike
Kathmandu, August 20
The Nepal government today withdrew
the recent fuel price hike after two days of violent protests in
Kathmandu and other parts of the country which left six people injured
in clashes.

won’t be for free on GND varsity campus
Amritsar, August 20
Outsiders visiting the serene and
pollution-free campus of Guru Nanak Dev University here for morning and
evening walks will now have to pay an annual fee. University’s Public
Relations Director R.P. Sobti said morning walkers would have to pay
token fee of Rs 120.
