Property tax opposed: The Anti-Corruption Council of India has appealed to the Chief Minister not to levy the property tax in the urban areas. "A high rate of inflation is already making lives miserable. The rural population is given free electricity while the urban population is burdened with the property tax,” said the council members.

Minister releases telephone directory: Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather yesterday released the seventh edition of the Current News Service (CNS) Matrix Telephone Directory 2013. The directory has landline and mobile numbers of ministers, public representatives, bureaucrats, police officers, journalists and writers, besides leading business establishments of the state. Rather said the CNS from last several years had served and represented the aspirations of people without any fear and compromise.
