Praful Chander Nagpal
Fazilka, October 18
Chief Parliamentary Secretary (Health) Navjot Kaur Sidhu, who had been mired in controversies on different issues with former Health Minister Madan Mohan Mittal, appears to be finding favour from Surjit Kumar Jyani, her senior party colleague.
Health Minister Surjit Kumar Jyani while talking to The Tribune today supported the proposal of Dr Navjot Kaur Sidhu to carry out inspections of hospitals with local area MLAs.
“Any MLA irrespective of any party is welcome for support in improving the functioning of the Health Department,” said Surjit Kumar Jyani.
“Government doctors will not be allowed practise at private clinics at any cost. It will also be ensured that doctors prescribe medicines supplied by the government," added Jyani on the sidelines of a bhoomi poojan programme of a Nandishalla at Rampura village on outskirts of Fazilka.
Dr Basant Gard, Deputy Commissioner,
Charandev Singh Maan, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Fazilka, Indrjit
Singh, Director, Dairy Development, also attended the programme.
In a bid to check the menace of stray
cattle in the town, the Nandishalla was also being established by the
Gau Rakshani Sabha, Fazilka, at a hefty cost of Rs 3.5 crore on an area
of five acres as a gaushall was already being run by the sabha. Ox, bull
and calves would be kept in the Nandishalla.
“A huge gobar gas plant would be set
up and power generation would also be ensured from it," informed
Inderjit Singh.
The Health Minister said the present
generation had failed to take care of elders and cows who are considered
as the second mother in the Indian culture. He, however, assured to
extend full cooperation to the project.
