Fate of 1,078 candidates to be
sealed; counting on March 6
Chandigarh, January 29
As many as 1,76,83,562 voters will
seal the fate of 1,078 candidates, including two chief ministerial
aspirants - Parkash Singh Badal of the ruling SAD-BJP alliance and Capt
Amarinder Singh of the Congress - in the fray as Punjab goes to the
polls amid tight security tomorrow.

With less than five days to go for
the Supreme Court to hear a petition filed by Army Chief General VK
Singh seeking reconciliation of his date of birth, it has now emerged
that the Ministry of Defence, last week, directed the Adjutant-General
branch, the record-keeper of the Army, to maintain the General’s date
of birth (DoB) as May 10, 1950.
