Punjab Police on Friday arrested a sub-inspector for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 10 lakh from a drug peddler.

SI Narinder Singh was posted as additional SHO at Lopoke police station here. He was arrested by the Special Task Force, which also recovered the amount from his possession.  

His name came up during the interrogation of drug peddler Guravtar Singh who, along with his accomplice Avtar Singh, was arrested after 1kg heroin was seized from them.

Amritsar SSP (rural) Swapan Sharma confirmed the arrest.
