Amritsar: Global Group of Institutes organised a turban-tying competition today. A large number of students participated in the competition and showcased their turban-tying skills. Harmanpreet Singh secured the first position, Simranjit Singh second and Harleen Singh secured the third position in the competition. Vice-chairman Akashdeep Singh Chandi gave away the prizes to the winners.

Annual prize distribution ceremony

Power Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO today presided over the annual prize distribution ceremony of School of Eminence, Mall Road. The minister exhorted students to become future leaders and awarded cash prizes to meritorious students. MLA Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh was also present at the event. Principal Mandeep Kaur read the annual report of the school and highlighted the key achievements of the institution.

DAV student aces varsity exams

Students of Masters in Journalism and Mass Communication (MAJMC) from DAV College performed well in the recently declared GNDU results. Queency Arora (Semester I) bagged the first position in university by securing 297 marks out of 400. Nitish Sabharwal secured the third position by securing 291 marks. Principal Amardeep Gupta said it was a proud moment for the college. Dr Gupta honoured the students and appreciated the efforts of the department for helping the students. Prof Sandeep Kumar, head of the PG Department of Mass Communication and Video Production, said he was proud of the students of his department.

Invictus observes World Health Day

Observing World Health Day, Invictus International School organised ‘The Good Health Week’ programme. Gowri Bansal, a crusader for emotional awareness and intelligence, brought forth the significance of emotional intelligence. She told the students about the key differences between sympathy and empathy, IQ and EQ. “Openly expressing our emotions while sharing our personal experiences with our parents on a daily basis should be a routine in every child’s life,” she said. Another speaker, Mrighya Chattha, a dietitian and nutritionist, emphasised the role healthy eating and living habits play in students’ overall performance.
