Kumar said the hospital had reserved nine beds for Covid patients. If clinical Covid cases rise, the number of beds will be increased.

“We have an oxygen regenerative plant. There is no need to worry about the oxygen. Viruses keep mutating and vaccines give protection from the severity of the disease,” he said.

“There is no need for further vaccine. Those who develop symptoms like headache, cough, cold or fever should consult a doctor. Protective measures such as wearing mask and hand hygiene can control the spread of disease,” he said.

Samples of Covid patients are sent to a lab for genome sequencing. “We test all patients with Covid symptoms,” he said.

On Sunday, a 22-year-old woman with post tuberculosis lung disease died due to Covid in the national capital.

At present, Delhi has 483 active Covid cases, an uptick of 47 since June 1.

The Delhi High Court on Monday asked the Centre for an update on the status of guidelines for laboratories on the collection and transportation of Covid-19 samples amid a sudden resurgence of the outbreak.
