Covid-19 scare gripped Gurugram on New Year’s Eve as 280 cases were reported on Friday.

This is the highest single day spike in the last six months and this has taken the active number of cases to 897.

The number of Omicron cases reported were 17 and the total number of Omicron cases has now reached 33 while active cases are only 5. The spike has left authorities worried in wake of the New Year celebrations.

Today 43 patients recovered. Out of 897 patients, 886 are in home isolation while 11 are being treated in hospitals.

The state government also imposed a ban on night movement which is also disappointing many as cyber city is giving two hoots to directives against crowding and many events are planned.

The district administration and police commissioner also clarified that all non-essential travel will be barred from 11 pm.

“We will not allow any celebration, travel or ruckus on roads as per the restrictions,” said Police Commissioner KK Rao.
