Sirsa legal authority launches drive to plant 50K trees in 40 days

The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Sirsa, on Wednesday launched a tree plantation campaign named “Hara-Bhara Sirsa - A First Step by DLSA, Sirsa”, with a goal to plant 50,000 saplings in 40 days across the district.

The campaign was formally launched by DLSA Chairman and District and Sessions Judge Puneesh Jindia, who planted the first sapling in the main park on the court premises. The initiative aims to promote environmental awareness and tackle the growing challenges of deforestation and climate change.

On this occasion, 500 saplings were planted in collaboration with the Forest Department by judges, court officials, advocates and clerks. Secretary of DLSA and Chief Judicial Magistrate Parvesh Singla shared details of the campaign and said it marks a significant step towards a greener and healthier Sirsa.

In his speech, Judge Puneesh Jindia emphasised the urgent need to protect the environment in light of rapid population growth and shrinking forest cover. He warned that if action is not taken now, the consequences in the future could be serious.

He encouraged everyone to celebrate personal milestones like birthdays, wedding anniversaries or other special events by planting trees.
