This was stated by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu while addressing public at ‘Sarkar Gaon ke Dwar’ programme at Dhaneta in Nadaun constituency near here today.
The CM said that medical college for the district was announced by the UPA government in 2014 on his request to then Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad with budget senction of Rs 186 crore. He alleged that the project was repeatedly delayed by the BJP governments in state and at the Centre. Otherwise, it would have completed by now. He said his government provided Rs 300 crore to speed up the construction work. The college would be shifted to the new campus at Jol Sappar soon. He said that a cancer research centre would also be developed with the medical college to provide best cancer related medical facilities to patients.
Sukhu announced to introduce CBSE curriculum in government senior school at Dhaneta from the next academic session along with co-education system with science stream classes. He also announced to start of B.Ed and BCA courses at government degree college at Dhaneta.
Lambasting the previous BJP government, the CM said opening hundreds of institutions ahead of the Assembly elections was a move for political gains. He said the rationalisation of schools was done and quality of education improved dramatically and ranking, 21 earlier, had now jumped to fifth. He said the state government allowed students to choose their smart uniforms. The govt sent teachers and meritorious students on international exposure visits and unified the school education directorate. These were some of the steps the state government initiated for improving quality of education in the state. He also announced the establishment of a new agricultural procurement centre in Nadaun.
While paying tribute to martyrs Arvind Singh and Subedar Kuldeep Chand, who sacrificed their lives in ‘Operation Sindoor’, the CM said that memorial gates would be constructed in their native villages to honour their supreme sacrifice.
