A tourist from Thane in Maharashtra died during trekking near Ghankulhadi near Patlikul yesterday.

According to the information, Kishore Yashwant Tamhane (71) had come to the base camp of Youth Hotel Association of India (YHAI) at 15 Miles in Kullu with his friend H Prakash Babu (56) of Bengaluru on February 20. They went on trekking from the YHAI base camp and reached Ghankulhadi camp above Rumsu village in Naggar on February 23 along with guide Hakam Singh from Grahan village in Kullu.

Babu stated to the police that Tamhane was found in an unconscious state in his tent on Saturday night. He said that YHAI storekeeper Yashpal Rawat rushed him to the Community Health Centre in Patlikul where the doctor declared him dead. He said that in-charge of YHAI base camp Naveen Chandra of Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh was also present with them.

Manali DSP KD Sharma said that the police have taken the trekker’s body into custody and started investigation.
