Truck driver killed in accident
A truck driver was killed when his apple-laden vehicle crashed into a hill near Shamlech tunnel on the Solan-Parwanoo highway this morning around 8:30 am, reportedly due to reckless driving. Solan Superintendent of Police Gaurav Singh confirmed that the mishap occurred when the truck, carrying apples and en route Theog-Faridabad (HP 63 C 1375), was driven recklessly by Om Prakash, the truck driver and owner.
The driver succumbed to fatal injuries at the scene. A case for causing death by rash and negligent driving under sections 281 and 106(1) of the BNS Act has been registered. The highway, known for its wide roads, often lures motorists to speed, leading to fatal accidents.
