The felicitation took place at the base camp in Nunwan, Pahalgam, set up for the annual Shri Amarnath Yatra. Shahzad Ahmad risked his life to rescue injured pilgrims and tourists during the attack, carrying some of them on his back down a steep hill while bullets flew around. At a time when many were running for cover, his actions stood out as a remarkable display of courage and humanity.
