Patiala, December 7

To ease traffic congestion in the district, Additional District Magistrate Isha Singal has imposed a ban on the entry of heavy vehicles from 8am to 8pm in urban areas. There will be a ban on the entry of heavy vehicles from Rajpura toll to the old bus stand, from the old bus stand to Fountain Chowk (Di Mall Road), from Fountain Chowk Lower Mall to Mahindra College and from Mahindra College to Sannori Adda.

The orders, which will remain in force until February 5, 2025, state that the movement of heavy vehicles has increased significantly in the urban areas of Patiala district.

The orders read that the entry of these vehicles in the city during the day is causing significant disruption to normal traffic, leading to long traffic jams. The traffic jams are affecting the work of the general public and hindering the timely arrival of elderly, patients, ambulances and schoolchildren from one place to another.
