Nangal, September 17

A 42-year-old resident of Nikku Nangal village was seriously injured when he was shot at by another local youth today. The youth has been identified as Harpreet Singh, alias Harry.

The injured victim, Anil Kumar Rana, alias Vicky, was taken to a local hospital from where he was referred to the PGI in Chandigarh.

Dilbagh Singh, the father of victim, alleged that Harpreet had been hounding his family members since the last pachayat elections as they had supported the rival party. After losing the elections, Harpreet had attacked his son with a sword and injured him.

Even yesterday, he had attacked his grandson with a sharp-edged weapon, and today he fired shots at his son, injuring him seriously, alleged Dilbagh Singh.

Local SHO Pawan Kumar said Anil Kumar suffered one bullet injury and was referred to the PGI, Chandigarh. The police were investigating the case, he said.
