A 28-year-old man and a woman allegedly died by suicide after allegedly consuming some pesticide near a canal at Charik village of Moga on Friday.They were identified as Jaswinder Singh, a tailor in Charik, and Jassi, a woman originally married into the same village.Jassi was the mother of two children and had been living with her parents following her divorce.

Jaswinder and Jassi had reportedly been in a relationship for the past two to three years, which eventually led to her separation from her husband, said sources. The two rode a motorcycle towards the nearby canal and allegedly consumed pesticide there.

The police are investigating the matter. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem.
