Rohtak, November 22

Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda has questioned the state government’s silence on a series of recruitment scams and sought a probe by the CBI or a High Court judge to get to the bottom of the matter.

Hooda said: “Such scams can’t take place without political patronage. If the government has nothing to hide, then why is it shying away from a thorough probe into the recruitment scams?”

“The state leadership’s claims of transparency and fairness in the provision of jobs have got locked in the briefcases of currency notes,” Hooda added.

Addressing a news conference, h also sought the resignations of the chairpersons of the Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) as well as the Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC) in order to ensure a fair investigation.

Remarking that the BJP-JJP regime had not lived up to its promises, he said the developmental works had come to a standstill across the state and every section of society was unhappy with the government functioning.

Talking about the problems faced by the farmers, he said they were not getting DAP. “They don’t get the minimum support price (MSP) for their produce and are compelled to sell it at low rates under distress.”

“The cost of cultivation is increasing continuously but the MSP is increasing only marginally. There was no tax on seeds, fertilisers, pesticides during the Congress tenure but this government has made agriculture expensive,” he added.
