Days after claiming to be the president of the Shiromani Akali Dal, Rajya Sabha member Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa today sought clarification from Sukhbir Singh Badal on whether the party had gifted the controversial attire, which resembled the attire of the tenth Sikh Guru, to Dera Sacha Sauda head Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh.

Excommunicate SAD Chief: council

Amritsar: The International Sikh Council has submitted a memorandum to Akal Takht, demanding ex-communication of SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal. Council president Tarvinder Kaur Khalsa said, “We suspect that Sukhbir Singh Badal was involved in sacrilege incidents and the Behbal Kalan firing case.” tns

Dhindsa, along with his supporters, which included ex-MLAs, MPs and leaders, met SAD patron and former Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal at the former’s residence here today, and resolved to seek explanation from Sukhbir Singh Badal on the controversial issue.

Spokespersons for the Dera Sacha Sauda had recently claimed that the whole controversy surrounding the dera’s chief attire was started by

the Akalis, as they had gifted it. Akal Takht had even ex-communicated the dera head following the controversy.
