England pacer Chris Jordan has joined Mumbai Indians for the remainder of the IPL 2023 season. The five-time champions have signed him as a replacement player but whom has he replaced is yet to be known. The Rohit Sharma-led side is currently struggling with the ball in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah and Jhye Richardson. Thus, Jordan’s inclusion will bolster their bowling unit.

Even though the official confirmation is still due, Jordan was recently spotted training in a Mumbai Indians jersey with the members. Meanwhile, there is no update on Jofra Archer’s injury. Earlier in the week, reports emerged that Archer had gone to Belgium for a minor procedure on his right elbow. Even though he played against Punjab Kings after that, he did not feature in Mumbai’s last game against Gujarat Titans.

Mumbai to host Rajasthan in IPL’s 1000th game

Later in the day (April 30), Mumbai will be hosting Rajasthan Royals at Wankhede Stadium. Notably, the Rohit Sharma-led side is currently ninth on the IPL Points Table and need some wins. Senior batters like Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav have not been in great form while Ishan Kishan has also struggled to get going and Tim David has been inconsistent. When it comes to bowling, no one has impressed except Piyush Chawla.

On the other hand, Rajasthan are currently second on the charts and will move to the top of the table with a win. Their youngsters Dhruv Jurel and Yashasvi Jaiswal are on song at the moment while Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson have the capability to change the complexion of the game at any time. With the ball, Ravichandran Ashwin and Sandeep Sharma have been sensational and thus, Rajasthan will be confident to win their sixth win of the season.

Meanwhile, the match between the first champion and the five-time champions will also be the 1000th game in the history of the competition.
