Star Indian batter Shreyas Iyer and his sister Shresta embraced the festive spirit of Raksha Bandhan. On Wednesday, August 30, the duo celebrated the festival and shared a glimpse of their love.

A viral video showcased a cheerful moment as Shreyas Iyer was seen enjoying hip-hop beats. Shrestha, his sister, applied vermilion on his forehead and tied the sacred rakhi around his wrist, a significant festival tradition. The siblings shared smiles and laughter, capturing their close bond.

Expressing her emotions, Shrestha's caption read,

"Happy Rakshabandhan @shreyasiyer96 ❤️🌹I want to start by saying that you are one of the most important people in my life. I’m so proud to have a brother like you not just for what you’ve accomplished, but for who you are. For me, it is only your happiness and success that matters." She continued, "Thank you for always being there for me ❤️ I couldn’t have asked for a better brother than you! I love you 🌹 🧿 And I miss you 💕”

Raksha Bandhan, a festival symbolising the bond of protection and care between siblings, involves sisters tying a sacred thread around their brothers' wrists. In return, brothers offer gifts or money as a gesture of love and appreciation.

The heartwarming celebration took place ahead of Shreyas Iyer's anticipated return to the cricket field. Recovering from a back injury that sidelined him during the 2023 Indian Premier League and the recent West Indies ODI series, Iyer is set to make his comeback during the Asia Cup. India's head coach, Rahul Dravid, confirmed Iyer's fitness and lauded his performance in practice matches.

"Shreyas Iyer is fully fit, he has ticked all the boxes - batted and fielded a lot in the camp. The only thing he has missed is the game time. Looked pretty good, and it will be all about giving him more game time, hopefully, it will come in the Asia Cup. In terms of fitness, he has done really well, has batted really well,” Dravid was quoted as saying by Sportskeeda.
