The eagerly-anticipated World Test Championship (WTC) 2021-23 final, played at The Oval in London, is nearing its culmination stage to determine the winner of the red-ball ICC event. Pat Cummins-led Australia have maintained their domination throughout the contest so far, scoring 469 runs in their first innings, whereas India responded with just 296 after quite a fight put on by the middle-order.

However, the Aussies scored 123 runs for the loss of four wickets at the end of Day 3 in the third innings and have now taken the lead by 296 runs with two days still to be played. However, as per the latest reports regarding the weather, the venue in London is likely to witness spells of shower which could disrupt the all-important clash between the fierce rivals.

Notably, it was earlier reported that The Oval could see the rain gods making their presence felt on the final two days of the ultimate Test. With that said, we take a look at the weather forecast for the penultimate day of the crucial WTC final.

Weather forecast at Kennington Oval, London for WTC Final

As per the weather projections by 'AccuWeather', the ambience in the morning shows a cloud cover of 71% with wind gusts travelling at the rate of 27 km/h. With the match to commence at 10:30 am in London (3:00pm IST), the play could be possible in the first session, however, the weather forecast for the afternoon may not be the bearer of good news.

In the afternoon, the website projects a gusty thunderstorm with a cloud cover of 75% and a probability of precipitation at 55%. Towards the evening, too, the weather is likely to remain cloudy with spells of thundershower. Likewise, ‘BBC Weather’ too shows a gentle breeze from the east with some chances of precipitation.

In any case, fans and the players of both teams will hope to witness a full-fledged clash for the coveted mace. Assuming the unfortunate scenario arises, which is if no play is possible for the rest of the two days, the game could move into the reserve day. If the rain gods play spoilsport on Monday, June 12 (reserve day), both India and Australia will be called joint-winners and will share the mace.
