A blast at Kotla Kazia village in Ajnala sub-division here on Monday claimed one life and led to injuries to two.

Sukhjit Singh, 12, was killed while grinding potash used for making crackers to be burst following a volleyball tournament in the village.

The injured are Taranpreet Singh, 12, and Sandeep Singh, 22.

They were standing near the spot where Sukhjit was grinding potash.

The incident occurred at the residence of one Mohit.

Mukhtyar Singh, SHO, Ajnala police station, said that a case of culpable homicide was registered against Mohit who allegedly brought the potash for making crackers for the occasion.

He said investigation was on to ascertain the location from where the accused brought the explosive material.
