The police have nabbed two stationery shop owners for allegedly fleecing residents on the pretext of making curfew passes. He was identified as Sargundeep Singh and Preetam Singh, both residents of Sant Avenue area, here. They own a shop on the Sultanwind road.

Sukhwinder Randhawa, in-charge, CIA staff, said the accused had pasted their mobile numbers outside their shop for providing curfew passes to vegetable, fruits vendors and grocery stores. They used to take from Rs 500 to Rs 1,000 for the same, he added. The accused used to apply online the same district administration website. They did not have any authorisation in this connection, he added.
