3 held for stealing ornaments, valuables worth Rs 12 lakh

The Chohla Sahib police have arrested three-member gang of thieves who stole gold ornaments and other valuable articles worth Rs 12 lakh from two houses at Rani Valah village on the intervening night of July 1 and 2.
Gold ornaments and other articles worth Rs 10 lakh were recovered from the possession of the suspects, said Ravisher Singh, DSP, Goindwal Sahib.
The DSP said the gang members were identified as Rajan (19), Dharaminder Singh Toni (29) and Gagandeep Singh (29), alias Gurjant Singh, all residents of Rani Valah village. They stole valuable articles and gold ornaments from the houses of Nirvail Singh and Jagtar Singh. The DSP said a case had been registered under Sections 305, 331, 238 and 317 (2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. He said the police was trying to recover the remaining stolen articles worth Rs 3 lakh.
Besides gold ornaments, the thieves stole nine mobile phones, four hair drier machines, five watches and one purse. The suspects were produced in a court on Saturday which sent them to two-day police remand. The DSP said more theft and snatching cases would likely be solved during their interrogation.
