Swachh Vidyalaya awards at district level under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan launched by the Centre Government of India were given by DC Harpreet Singh Soodan to 38 schools.

The Swachh Vidyalaya awards are given annually by the Centre, in which schools are evaluated on the basis of cleanliness and hygiene infrastructure. A total of 867 schools had applied online this year, of which 38 schools received the award at district level. Of these 38 schools, eight schools got overall recognition while 30 schools got honours for best performance under six categories.

The winning schools were honoured at a special ceremony that was attended by the DC, District Education Officer and school heads at an event held at Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Mall Road.

Soodan honoured the winning schools and lauded their work and urged the school principals to make all schools in the district clean and beautiful. District Education Officer Jugraj Singh Randhawa and District Education Officer (elementary) Rajesh Sharma addressed the winning school principals and commended the school principals for keeping their schools clean.

On the occasion, the nodal officer of Swachh Vidyalaya award competition, Rajesh Khanna; Muradpura Government Senior Secondary School Principal Balraj Singh Dhillon; Lopoke Government Senior Secondary School Principal Mandeep Kaur; Mall Road Government Girls Senior Secondary School Principal and others officials of district education department were present.
