75-yr-old killed in Tarn Taran road accident

A 75-year-old pedestrian was killed on the spot in a road accident in Tarn Taran town when a speeding auto-rickshaw hit him on Sunday.

The local police led by Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Mukhtar Singh visited the spot and registered a case against the unknown auto driver. The ASI said the deceased has been identified as Sarwan Singh, a resident of Gulalipur.

The victim worked as a construction worker and was on his way back home. At the gate of Gurdwara Lakir Sahib in Fatehchak locality, the victim was crossing the road to take a bus for his village when the auto-rickshaw coming from the Amritsar side hit him. He received head injuries and was bleeding profusely.

He was taken to the local Civil Hospital where the doctors declared him dead. The police have registered a case under Sections 106 (1) and 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the driver who fled in his vehicle.
