AAP cancels events in Tarn Taran villages after farmers’ threat
Keeping in mind the threat given by farmers and farm labourers against the atrocities committed on them at the Shambhu and Khanauri borders two months ago, the ruling AAP had to cancel all its programmes to be held at Piddi and other villages under ‘Nasha Virodhi Yatra’ here on Saturday.
The Aam Aadmi Party was to organise marches, scheduled to be addressed by senior leaders of the party, against drugs at Piddi, Chutala and other villages here. Supporters of AAP had made arrangements at Piddi village. Tents had been raised and chairs kept at the site.
Leaders of the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee (KMSC), who were opposing the ruling party for the alleged brutality committed on them at the Shambhu-Khanauri borders, organised a meeting of farmers and labourers on Friday night in the village and declared to oppose the AAP programmes proposed for Saturday in the village.
The supporters of AAP, keeping in mind the threat given by the KMSC to not let the party hold its programme, cancelled the programme and the chairs were sent back to the tent house.
Activists of the KMSC under the leadership of Bibi Davinder Kaur and others gathered in the village and raised slogans against the ruling AAP and warned that it must have to reply as to why it committed brutality on them. Satnam Singh Pannu, Fatah Singh Piddi, Jasbir Singh Piddi and others leaders too addressed on the occasion.
